Aquaculture / Nutrition / Sea Foods Kochi, Kerala

Premium seafood on every Indian plate. Indian species on every global one.

That is the whole reason Noxmara exists. We were built by fisheries graduates who kept watching good science stop at the paper and never reach the farm — so we took the science to the farm ourselves, aggressively, and built the technology, the minerals and the supply chains that make it hold up in production.

The question

Scylla serrata

Mud crab · land-based aquaculture · Kochi, Kerala

Can the mud crab become India’s next billion-dollar industry?

The demand is already here. The price is world-class. What has been missing is the technology to farm Scylla reliably — at scale, on land. That is the gap we are built to close.

Everything about the animal says premium. It commands a live-export price most Indian species never see, it is wanted across Southeast Asia and the Gulf, and it grows on a coastline we already have. What it has never had is a production system: the sector still runs on wild-caught seed, pond fattening with losses nobody counts, and mortality that gets written off as bad luck.

A billion-dollar industry needs three things this one does not yet have — seed you can buy instead of catch, survival you can predict, and a product a buyer can trace. Hatchery, Habitat-Enhanced RAS and traceable supply are exactly the three we work on.

And the gap is not only in the tank

India is blessed with as much premium seafood as almost anywhere on earth, and has still never become a global leader in it. Not for want of resource — because leadership in this trade is not settled by volume. It is settled by traceability, organic and health-aligned production, and quality a buyer can count on arriving the same way every time. Those three are exactly where Indian seafood has been weakest, and exactly what a premium price is paid for.

So the other half of our work is building transparent value chains — production where the record travels with the animal, from the box it grew in to the plate it lands on, and a buyer anywhere in the world can check it instead of trusting it.

Three divisions

One company, three things it makes: the system, what goes in the water, and what comes out of it.

Vision

Building a stronger future through premium Indian seafood

Five things we believe, in the order they follow from each other.

1

India is rich in premium seafood resources with exceptional nutritional value.

2

At the same time, nutritional deficiencies and related health challenges still affect a large part of the population. The resource and the need are in the same country and rarely meet.

3

Noxmara is committed to bringing premium seafood into domestic markets through advanced culture, holding and post-harvest technologies.

4

Through dynamic branding, marketing and trading strategies, we aim to improve access, awareness and value for Indian seafood products.

5

Our vision is to promote the utilisation of indigenous Indian seafood and create globally recognised brands from India.

Transforming Indian seafood into nutrition, value, and global identity.
Now

What we are working on

Two things, and they are the same thing seen from either end.

Diversification

Indian aquaculture is dangerously narrow. Enormous capacity, built around very few species, exposed to a single price crash or a single disease event. We work on widening it — mud crab first, because we know it best, then bivalves, then whatever the water and the market will carry.

That is not a slogan about resilience. It is the difference between a farmer with one crop and a farmer with three.

Branding indigenous seafood

India grows and catches some of the finest seafood in the world and sells almost all of it anonymously — graded, boxed, and shipped out to be branded by somebody else. The value is created here and captured somewhere else.

We are working on the other outcome: Indian indigenous species carrying an Indian brand, with the provenance and traceability behind it that lets it hold a premium instead of competing on price.

New

What is new

Three things we did not have two years ago.

First in India

AquaShield

Liquid mineral for mud crab culture. Powder has to dissolve before it can work. A crab that has just moulted does not have that long.

System

Habitat-Enhanced RAS

A recirculating system designed around what a mud crab actually does — shelter, substrate, territory — instead of only what the water needs. Survival goes up.
